At the Royal Academy of Music (June 2026), Charlotte performed Zemlinsky’s Sechs Gesänge von Maeterlinck under the baton of Ryan Bancroft, Principal Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, with the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra.

Introducing Charlotte Clapperton, Mezzo-Soprano

Charlotte Clapperton is a 2026/27 Scottish Opera Emerging Artist and recently graduated from Royal Academy Opera (RAO) where she was awarded the Edwin Samuel Dove Prize. Other awards include both first prize and song prize at the prestigious 2025 Richard Lewis-Jean Shanks Award, and was recently a finalist in the 2026 Royal Overseas League Singing Award. Charlotte has a varied repertoire of opera, oratorio and song. She has covered in the Royal Opera House production of Larmes de Couteau/Full Moon in March.

Charlotte recently very much enjoyed a highly successful run playing the title role in the RAO production of Carmen.
